Executive Affiliates are recognised industry leaders from the U.S. and Australia, who provide specialist industry and scientific advice to the Management Team and also assist portfolio companies. These people add immense credibility to portfolio companies through Board participation, and dramatically increase the companies' ability to scale rapidly through their knowledge and vast network of contacts. Their role includes:

Rob Ryan
Robert Ryan is one of the founders of Ascend Communications and served as the company's President, CEO and Chairman. Under Rob's leadership, Ascend became the leading manufacturer of Point of Presence boxes (POPS) for Internet Service Providers. By 1996 Ascend had achieved revenues of USD$500 million since its founding in 1989.

Rob has assisted a number of major new technology companies including Silicon Spice and Looksmart and was named U.S. Entrepreneur of the year in 1995.

Currently, Rob heads Entrepreneur America, an organisation providing business mentoring and incubation to promising entrepreneurial companies. He is also the author of a book by the same name. Rob sits on the Board of Dilithium Networks, now a US-based portfolio company.

Dr. Paul Goddard
Dr Goddard was President and CEO of Elan Pharmaceuticals, the largest division of Elan Corporation, until March 2000. Elan is a specialty pharmaceutical company with revenues of over USD$1.5 billion in 2000. He remains a consultant and advisor to the company. From 1991 to 1998 he was Chairman and CEO of Neurex Corp., a biotechnology company focused on the discovery, development and commercialisation of product for neurological disease and pain management. In 1998, Neurex was acquired by Elan.

Prior to joining Neurex, Dr Goddard held various senior management positions at SmithKline Beecham, the most recent being Senior Vice President for their Far East/Asian businesses. He obtained his doctorate from St Mary's Hospital, London, in the area of aetiology and pathophysiology of Colon Cancer. Dr Goddard also serves on the board of directors of Adolor Corporation [NASDAQ; ADLR], Molecular Devices [NASDAQ; MDCC], Onyx Pharmaceuticals [NASDAQ; ONXX] and Point Biomedical inc [Private]. He also serves as Chairman of AP Pharma [NASDAQ;APOS]. He previously served on the Board of Alchemia, a private Australian-based portfolio company.

Dr. Robert Fildes
Dr Fildes was President and CEO of Cetus Corporation, a company that used biotechnology to discover and develop genetically engineered human proteins and monoclonal antibodies as new products. Under Dr Fildes leadership this organisation grew from a small research boutique into a focussed international biopharmaceutical company employing over 1,000 people with skills and facilities to discover, develop, manufacture and sell therapeutic products for human treatment.

Prior to Cetus, he was the President of Biogen Inc. the US subsidiary of Biogen NV, Geneva. Ê Dr Fildes was also the VP of Operations for Bristol Myers Corporation, a global US based pharmaceutical company. As such he was responsible for managing a global staff of 2,000 engaged in the technical development and commercial manufacture of a wide range of drug products.

Dr Fildes obtained his doctorate from the University of London. He has served on the board of directors of numerous companies including: Viagene (a public San Diego company); La Jolla Pharmaceuticals (a public San Diego company); Cytovax Biotechnologies (Private Canadian company) and Atlantic Pharmaceuticals (Public Nth Carolina company). He is a member of the Investment committee of the Royal Canadian Bank.

Judith Blakemore
Judith is a highly regarded consultant and contract manager to the U.S. Venture Capital industry. She specialises in the biotech area and is an inventor on five U.S. patents.

Judith most recently assisted Onyx Pharmaceuticals, Inc. in various executive roles including COO from 1998 to 2000. Judith also served as the first President and Chief Operating Officer of XTL Biopharmaceuticals, Ltd., a company founded on technology licensed from the Weizmann Institute in Rehovot, Israel. XTL had its initial public offering on the London Stock Exchange in 2000. She has also assisted another two companies with their initial public offerings on the NASDAQ.

From 1982 to 1991, Judith was employed at Cetus Corporation in various executive roles including Vice President, Biological Therapeutics Development. In that capacity she managed development activities for nine investigational new biological products. Judith holds an MBA from St. Mary's College in Moraga, California, and a B.A. in Biochemistry from the University of California at Berkeley.

Greg Rose
Greg Rose is VP Technology for Qualcomm Inc., a world-leading manufacturer of wireless and security devices. Greg has deep technical knowledge in the areas of wireless technology, security and computer operating systems, particularly UNIX. He sits on the Telecommunications Industry Associations (U.S. based) subcommittee, TR45, responsible for cryptographic authentication and security for cellular and personal communications including the new 3G system. Greg has published extensively in his areas of expertise.

Greg assists as a technical expert as well as providing access to an extensive engineering network in the U.S. and Australia. He sat on the Board of DSpace Pty Ltd an Adelaide-based portfolio company from 2001-2005.

Ian Eslick
Ian Eslick is the founding President of Silicon Spice, a California- based startup incorporated in 1996.  He served in several executive roles, including President and VP of Software Engineering and sat on the company's board of directors.  The company was acquired by Broadcom Corporation in a $1.2B transaction in 2000.  Their products, under the Broadcom label, became the market leader in carrier-class voice telephony with significant penetration in the US, Europe and Asia.  Ian continued at Broadcom as Director of Software Engineering in Broadcom's Carrier Access Business Unit and later in their Mobile Technology Business Unit.

Ian is currently engaged in research towards his fourth degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, working at the intersection of Human-Computer Interaction, Artificial Intelligence and Software Engineering.  He holds over a dozen patents in semiconductor architecture, real-time software and systems technology and serves as an advisor to companies in the semiconductor, software, non-profit and entertainment sectors.

Ian assists CM Capital as a technical expert in telecommunications, software and semiconductor technologies as well as providing access to a wide variety of engineering, entrepreneurial and investment resources on both coasts of the United States.
